Ray & Susan Morris
New Executive Directors VII
Alberta
“Not everyone we talk to is going to enroll,” says Ray Morris. “We won’t enroll all of them, we won’t even enroll most of them, but the only relevant question is will ENOUGH of the people we talk to see the wisdom of what we’re doing that we can build great business?
“And the answer to that question is a resounding ‘YES!’”
When Ray started his business, finding leadership wasn’t easy, as he had tried several other home-based businesses and all he had succeeded in doing was “freezing” his warm market.
Ray says he has a lot of respect for people who have built successful businesses with Melaleuca having come here from another company. “If you’ve tried other businesses you’ve likely talked to the people you know about those companies,” he says.
Ray says he can identify with those who find it intimidating to call them again and says it’s understandable.
“In my case it was hard not to anticipate some negative responses and I did get some vehement opposition,” he says. “The truth is, there were many more ‘no’s than ‘yes’s but in the final analysis, making these most difficult approaches really paid dividends.
“The few who listened were able to identify the significant credentials and viability of this great company and they now account for some of the most treasured leadership in my business.”
His key to building the business was sincerity rather than skill.
“I know I wasn’t the most eloquent messenger,” he says, “and I didn’t have the greatest presentation skills but my intent was sincere and my conviction was absolute. I think people sensed that.”
“We have phenomenal leadership in our business. Our newest Senior Directors, Iwan and Annette Yorks, are making a big impact enhancing lives in the Netherlands.
“We are so grateful to our enrollers, Corporate Directors Mark and Myrna Atha, our personal enrollees, Executive Directors VI Rick and Jacqueline Jongkind, Executive Directors II Charly and Karin Stuetzel, Senior Directors III Kathie and Jim Baker and our fantastic group of Senior and Executive Directors in Quebec who we call ‘The French Connection.’
“We would also like to express our profound appreciation to Melaleuca’s European management team who are just outstanding, and, of course, to Vice President of Sales and Country Manager of Canada Johnny Morgison who has been such an incredible ambassador for Canada throughout the years.”
“We had a unique opportunity to ‘start over again’ in Holland: to enroll people the right way, as Corporate Director VI Eddie Bestoso would say ‘with Value Packs and Membership Kits’ and by establishing reciprocating commitments.”
While his latest success may come from Holland, Ray insists his priority is to build new leadership in North America where less than one percent of households have converted to Melaleuca products.
“The really exciting thing is it’s dawned on us that we can do the same thing right here at home,” Ray says. “It’s just a matter of making a decision to start over again and demanding of ourselves that we only do it the right way.
“As time goes on we place an exponentially increasing value on the 168 hours we are all given at the start of every week.
“We don’t mind investing some of it in Melaleuca, in fact we look forward to it, but we insist the time be invested in activities and with people who will take us towards our goals and not away from them!”
“When Ray enrolled he had a broken-down car, no money, and several kids to take care of,” Johnny says. “He was actually selling pizzas to earn money. If Ray can do it, it shows that anyone can. He’s a great leader and I want to congratulate him on this advancement.”
