Wherever your Melaleuca business is right now, it’s the result of what you were doing 90 days ago. “It doesn’t come overnight,” Rafael says. “If you decide you’re going to go back to the basics and get back to work, you won’t see the results until two or three months from now. If you decide you’re going to stop working, it’ll be two or three months before you stop having the same results.”

Rafael says he’s still seeing results from a decision he made more than 10 months ago. After some time “waiting around,” Rafael realized the best way to lead is from the front.

“I went out and set the example by finding new leadership,” he says. “I went to California and developed new leadership in new towns, and it’s thanks to them I advanced to Executive Director VII.”

Rafael says that while his entire organization is to thank for his advancement, a few leaders in particular really changed the flow of his business.

“[Now Executive Director II] Fabricio Nobre was an acquaintance from a previous business,” Rafael says. “When I started with Melaleuca, I knew right away that Fabricio would be great, but I’d lost his phone number. When I was in California, I remember telling my wife, ‘If I can just find Fabricio, it’ll be worth all this time I’m spending in California.’ I finally came across his phone number, and asked him to meet me for coffee one day. I shared the New Horizons with him, and he enrolled.”

After Fabricio went to work, he moved rapidly to Senior Director, beating even his own predictions, and now to Executive Director II. Rafael says hard work makes a difference, but having the right opportunity is what really makes the difference.

“Before Melaleuca, I worked just as hard at everything I did,” he says. “But there was always something that would change and drop me and my friends from hero to zero just as we’d start to really make money. We’re thankful for this company.

“And I’m thankful for my wife, Monica. If it wasn’t for her support, I wouldn’t be able to do this. Without her, I’d probably be a Director V.”

Rafael dice que cuando debe agradecer a toda su organización por su avance, unos líderes en particular verdaderamente cambiaron la dirección de su negocio. “[El ahora Director Ejecutivo II] Fabricio Nobre eran un conocido de un negocio previo”, dice Rafael. “Cuando comencé con Melaleuca, supe que Fabricio sería excepcional, pero había perdido su número de teléfono. Cuando estuve en California recuerdo haberle dicho a mi esposa, ‘Si encontrara a Fabricio, valdría todo el tiempo invertido en California’.
Finalmente encontré su teléfono y le pedí nos tomáramos una taza de café. Le presente el Nuevos Horizontes y él se inscribió”.

Después de comenzar a trabajar, Fabricio ascendió rápidamente a Director Superior aún más rápido de lo que él anticipó, y ahora es un Director Ejecutivo II. Rafael explica que trabajar arduamente hace una gran diferencia, pero el tener la oportunidad correcta es lo que hace la diferencia absoluta.

“Antes de Melaleuca, yo trabajaba con el mismo esmero en todo lo que hacía”, él dice. “Pero siempre hubo algún cambio que nos hacia ir del éxito al fracaso cuando comenzábamos a ganar dinero. Por eso estamos agradecidos a esta compañía. Y estoy agradecido a mi esposa Mónica. Si no fuera por su apoyo, no sería capaz de llegar a donde estamos. Sin ella, probablemente sería un Director V”.
