Linda & Tim Hutchinson
New Executive Directors
Texas
While Tim and Linda thought Melaleuca was the last thing they were looking for, the opportunity to stay home was quite appealing. Linda worked as a nurse in a cardiac unit working long shifts and Tim was in the military. They both wanted to be home with their kids, but after failing for nine years in various MLMs, they didn't think that was possible.
Once they took the time to really investigate Melaleuca, Linda purchased a Career Pack. “I told Executive Director II Betty Ann Sudbury if I didn't like the products they would be coming back to her doorstep!” Linda says. “But she told me to go ahead and use them up and send the bottles back empty, if I wasn't satisfied I would get my money back. I couldn't believe a company would do that.”
To further impress them Betty Ann showed them her check from Melaleuca and they saw the financial possibilities.
“We wore blinders and didn't want to look because we thought all home-based businesses were the same. Our MLM ‘leaders’ never showed us their checks but said we wouldn't believe how much they made,” Tim says. “Now we know it's because they didn't make anything!”
Tim and Linda advanced quickly at first but then hit some rough spots. After two years at Senior Director V, they found ways to fight through and advance.
“At times the best thing you can do for your business is to pause, take a breather for a few hours and come back refocused,” Tim says. “During those difficult times, Senior Director V Mike Coy was a constant source of encouragement and support.”
“There will be bumps in the road; it's about how they [business builders] handle those bumps. It's not how many times you get knocked down that matters, it's how many times you get back up and keep going. Bumps are called life, that's how we grow. You need to expect bumps, they will happen.”
One of the bumps they had to fight through was finding customers who really wanted to build a business. “We spent a lot of time with the wrong people who said they wanted to build a business,” Tim says. “We thought these people would be our next Directors. We don't want them to tell us what they're going to do. We want them to show us by doing it.”
Connecting to those who are serious about building is a key factor in being successful. “You have to run with the runners. Even if it was someone who didn't want to be a Director in the beginning,” Linda says. “If they're doing it now, you have to run with them.”
Melaleuca gave Tim and Linda a life they dreamed of. “When our son Brian graduated from high school we took a vacation and created memories that can never be taken away,” Linda says. “We wanted it to be something special. Before Melaleuca we would have traveled to Florida or Corpus Christi, Texas. This time we went to the Bahamas and stayed in the Presidential Suite. It wasn't about money; it was about the quality family time and memories.”
No matter what comes their way, Tim and Linda are prepared to rise above mediocrity and continue making their dreams a reality. “Just like fishing, you've got to keep your lines in the water if you expect to catch anything. This is not different if you expect to succeed in finding new customers!” Linda says. “Finding the right people takes daily action.
“We want to thank President and CEO Frank L. VanderSloot and the Melaleuca Management Team from the bottom of our hearts. Frank's vision of enhancing lives allows ALL of us to share that same commitment! We also want to thank Executive Director II Betty Ann Sudbury, Executive Director V Danny Bressel and Executive Director V Steve Gordon from our support line.
“We also owe a special thanks and sincere thanks to our awesome Melaleuca team members, especially Senior Director II Edie McRae, Director III Joan Proteau and Director II Sharon Caswell. Developing awesome relationships and watching and helping others on the team advance and reach their goals has truly been a dream come true!!”
